Grey's Anatomy vs. Diagnosis Murder

(images from ABC.com and imdb.com)

OK, so I noticed this the other evening while checking the news headlines on Yahoo! There was a link for an article about Eric Dane, a character from Grey's Anatomy on ABC, it wasn't so much his name that caught my eye, but the character that he plays, Mark Sloane. For those who may be wondering why the name Mark Sloane would spark my interest, let me explain...about 14 years ago there was a show called Diagnosis Murder, staring Dick Van Dyke, as a crime solving doctor, on CBS. While I haven't been able to find any other similarities between the characters besides the name, the characters looks are very similar.

The looks are what really piqued my interest, when I went to the ABC website I found a picture of Eric Dane as Mark Sloane then I went to imdb.com and did a search for Diagnosis Murder, and found pictures of Dick Van Dyke as Mark Sloan. I've included two pictures...To me, it seems that the ABC Mark Sloane could possibly be a younger version of the CBS Mark Sloan. I mean the mustache...the eyebrows...and the fact that they both seem to have the same hairline...I'm not making any accusations or anything...it's just funny...

Anyway...it's food for thought...
